This We Know – God is On Our Side
We all face unknowns. Some of them are small and insignificant. Others matter a great deal. But don’t be discouraged. God is on our side.
When you’re feeling discouraged or need a boost of courage, God is there.
We all face unknowns. Some of them are small and insignificant. Others matter a great deal. But don’t be discouraged. God is on our side.
God never leaves us floundering when trials come our way. He comes alongside and lends us His almighty hand. That’s what the word “helps” means in Romans 8:26
When God tells us to trust Him, He means fully trust. We refrain from picking and choosing the concerns we feel are okay to give Him while clinging to others.
Entertaining worrisome and fear-filled thoughts in the night makes it impossible o wake with an attitude of hope and anticipation.
Considering all that’s happening in the world, I can’t help but wonder about the future for my grandbabies. Perhaps you wonder the same for those you love.
The end result of anxious thoughts allowed to run wild is – stinkin’ thinkin.’ It shapes our beliefs, influences our behavior, and determines our destiny.
Just ask the foot racer who lost the lead when he turned his head to check on the runners behind him. A split-second backward glance cost him the lead.
A friend found herself in unfamiliar territory when her husband died suddenly. Her husband had managed their finances. Now that responsibility fell on her.
David’s circumstances gave him no time to stop, catch his breath, and prepare for the next onslaught. The attacks just kept coming.
In many cases, stuff happens because that’s the nature of things. But sometimes the devil is to blame, and I blame him for my recent misadventures.
One of my favorite old hymns is “Standing on the Promises”. It reminds us the storms of life will blow, but God’s promises enable us to face them with courage.
Challenging circumstances don’t have to disturb our inner peace. If we take Jesus’ words seriously, we can accept that trusting in God is the way to respond.
David is one of my favorite Bible characters because he experienced many of the same things I’ve experienced. Dealing with criticism was one of those things.
God has no needs. He’s the source of everything that exists both seen and unseen. He’s sufficient and fully able to satisfy every need we have.
I was a Bible college sophomore when I sensed Him leading me to Belgium for a summer doing mission work. But I was a student with big dreams and empty pockets.
Truths about God are enough to begin and end everyday with a song of joy. He is powerful, filled with lovingkindness, and ready to be our refuge and strength.
No one I know relishes taking a test but they reveal where we need to learn and grow. Remember God allows tests in our lives, but He always sits with us.
We are finite beings so we often view our circumstances on a finite timeline. The clock ticks, and we grow anxious. We begin to doubt whether God hears us.
We can’t begin to understand His purposes for our pain, but we can rest assured that He is doing something good in His eternal plan.
Eight months after receiving “guard” as my focus word for 2022, I’m beginning to appreciate its relevance to my life in ways I hadn’t imagined.
Storms will come and go. God’s promises help us navigate the wind and waves to a safe harbor. We can trust Him and not be afraid.
God does not always lead us into suffering, but sometimes He does. Sometimes, God works in and through our trials to carry out His purposes.
God is with you, my friend. His presence will never leave your side. You don’t face your challenges alone, nor do you face them in your own strength.
In the wake of all the negative stuff happening, I want to suggest doing something to keep hope alive: host a celebration.
Trusting God means yielding our desire for control to the One who is in control. It means admitting our understanding of a troubling situation is incomplete.
The truth is, Almighty God is on our side. The enemy wants us to believe otherwise, so he whispers lies intended to lead us to believe defeat is imminent.
We can either let them intimidate us, or we can choose to believe and live from the truth that the Lord of heaven’s armies rescues His people.
God sees strengths in us that we fail to recognize. Perhaps we need to ask the Lord to help us view ourselves as He does.
I pray that today’s post will encourage and inspire you. It’s an excerpt from my devotional book Finding Hope in Crisis: Devotions for Calm in Chaos.
We’re faced with a choice. We can camp our thoughts on lies or we can secure them on truth. Our choice influences our behaviors and determines our destiny.
Crisis changes life in a nanosecond. It can rob us of routine, ruin our ability to sleep well, and remove our capability to think straight.
Life is really hard sometimes. But suffering is temporary. Let’s neither run from it nor resist it because it refines us and strengthens our faith.
Keep your minds focused on the Truth as we ride out the storm. None of this has taken the Lord by surprise. He sees us and He prays for us.
Our circumstances may leave us feeling traumatized. But keeping our eyes on the unchanging Christ will help us weather the storm.
God is right in everything He does. He’s right when He leads us down those sunlit paths, and He’s no less right when those paths lead into the dark places.
As we walk this road of change and uncertainty, let’s admit our strength is not enough. And make it our goal, to do it in the Holy Spirit’s supernatural power.
